About Me
I was raised in South Dakota where you are never far from nature. My mother was an artist. When other children were coloring the grass green, my mother challenged me to see the yellows and browns that blended with the greens. She also taught me to note the details in the world around us and modeled a vast amount of curiosity.
I studied Chemistry in college, because well Chemistry is everything and I was curious about most everything. After graduation I focused on Environmental Science and worked in applied research. Then I married a man who joined the U.S. Dept. of State and we moved around the world. We had two children who reignited my awe of the world in which we live and helped me experience each new culture.
After twenty some years my husband retired and we moved home to South Dakota. My D.C. area friends couldn’t understand why. I hope that looking through the South Dakota Galleries can explain that. As you can see from the galleries, I am still fascinated by this world in which we live. I am hoping that this website will help you understand how I “see” the world and why I am still so fascinated by it.
