Among the Mountain Mosses
Using my Nikon D750 with my Vivitar 90 mm + 1:1 converter; ISO 400, 1/13 sec, F/22; with my tripod and a wind shield + a blurred out background (8x10 in) that I brought with me. I spent 4 years looking for this rare Calypso Orchid in my Black Hills area. A hiking friend let me know she'd seen 2 in her morning hike. I left an hour later to try to photograph. This is more of an environmental shot as I wanted to enter it into a "mountain culture photo contest". The moss was included to help folks comprehend the size. A week later, this same friend headed me to a hike with 24 of these little beauties. I shot like crazy because you never know when you'll find them again.
